Nothing beats the excitement of seeing Andre Russell play cricket. It happened again on a Saturday evening at Eden Gardens during KKR’s IPL 2024 match against SRH.

Even though he came in as No. 8, Russell, who’s adored by KKR fans, got straight to business. In the 16th over of KKR’s innings, he hit a massive six, 91 meters long, against Mayank Markande over cow corner. Then, just three balls later, he hit two more sixes in a row. It made Markande seem powerless from the other side of the pitch.

In Match 3 of the competition, KKR, batting first, faced early trouble, falling to 32/3 during the Powerplay. Philip Salt steadied the innings, while explosive performances from Russell and Rinku Singh dismantled the SRH bowling attack.

As of now, KKR has surged to 190/6 after 18.4 overs, with Russell smashing 52* off 21 balls. Rinku Singh is also contributing with 23* off 14 balls.

Despite criticisms about retaining Russell due to his recent form, his powerful innings has silenced doubters, at least temporarily.
