The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the India ‘A’ squad for the T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024. Tilak Varma, a young and talented batsman, has been chosen as the captain of the 15-member team. The tournament will take place in Oman and start on October 19. This year, for the first time, the Emerging Teams Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format.
India ‘A’ will play their first match against their biggest rivals, Pakistan ‘A’, on October 19. Their group also includes the host country Oman and the UAE. Many players in the team are already well-known from the IPL, and the squad hopes to win the title, something India last did in 2013.

Tilak Varma, who has played in four One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 16 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) for India, will lead the India A team in the upcoming T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup. He will be joined by other players with international experience. Abhishek Sharma, who had an outstanding season in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and Rahul Chahar, a key player for Punjab Kings, are also part of the squad.
The India A team is filled with talented IPL performers. Players like Ayush Badoni (Lucknow Super Giants), Prabhsimran Singh (Punjab Kings), Anuj Rawat (Royal Challengers Bangalore), and Nehal Wadhera (Mumbai Indians) have all shown their skills in the IPL and will be important for the batting lineup. On the bowling side, R Sai Kishore and Vaibhav Arora will lead the attack.
All-rounders Nishant Sindhu and Anshul Kamboj bring more strength to the team. Sindhu was part of Indiaโs U19 World Cup-winning team in 2022, and Kamboj impressed many with his performance in the Duleep Trophy. Both are expected to play key roles in the tournament.
