A standout name in South Africa’s World Cup selection is Gerald Coetzee, a right-arm pacer who made his international debut earlier this year. In his two one-day international matches so far, Coetzee has taken five wickets, including a notable three-wicket performance during his ODI debut.

The squad includes seasoned batsmen like Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, and Rassie van der Dussen. Star wicketkeeper-batsman de Kock has also grabbed attention by revealing his decision to retire from ODI cricket after the conclusion of the World Cup.

Leading the pace attack will be Kagiso Rabada, supported by skilled fast bowlers like Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi, among others. Since the tournament is happening in India, spinners are anticipated to have a significant impact, thanks to the favorable subcontinental conditions.

South Africa has top-notch spinners in Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi, both well-prepared to excel in this role. Rob Walter, the Head Coach for South Africa’s white-ball team, shared insights into the thought process guiding the selection of the World Cup squad.
