IPL 2024: Chennai Super Kings signed Shardul Thakur in the IPL auction 2024 at the Coca Cola Arena in Dubai on Tuesday. Thakur, who had won the IPL twice with Chennai Super Kings in 2018 and 2021, previously played for Kolkata Knight Riders, who had bought him for Rs. 10.75 crore in the previous auction. Thakur featured in 11 matches for them in 2023, making 113 runs and claiming only seven wickets.

IPL 2024 Auction: Chennai Super Kings signed Shardul Thakur in the auction at the Coca Cola Arena in Dubai on Tuesday. Thakur, who has played for KKR and CSK, has also represented Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab in the past. He has amassed 286 runs and taken 89 wickets at an average of 28.76 in 86 IPL matches.
Chennai Super Kings faced a tough competition from Sunrisers Hyderabad for Thakur, who had a base price of Rs. two crore. The reigning IPL champion managed to secure its former player back into its squad.
Thakur had a poor 2023 IPL season, but he hit his highest IPL score of 68 off 29 balls, against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the same season.
