20-year-old Cooper Connolly, who has impressed in Australia’s T20 domestic cricket, received his first national call-up and will join the T20I squad for the UK tour.
Jake Fraser-McGurk, a star batter, is included in both squads and aims to fill the opening slot left vacant by David Warner, who retired after the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Pat Cummins, captain of the 2023 ODI World Cup-winning team, is rested to manage his workload. CA wants him fresh for the important home test series against India later this year.
Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell are not in the T20I squad but will join the team for the five-match ODI series against England and Scotland.

Australia’s national men’s selector, George Bailey, announced the squad and highlighted the opportunity to introduce new players with David Warner and Matthew Wade absent.
“This tour gives us a great opportunity to bring in some new players in the absence of David Warner and Matthew Wade, as well as giving some senior players time to prepare for the home summer and a busy first half of next year,” Bailey said.
Bailey expressed satisfaction with young Cooper Connolly’s progress over the past year. “We are particularly pleased to offer Cooper his first opportunity in the T20 squad, having introduced the likes of Jake Fraser-McGurk, Spencer Johnson, Xavier Bartlett, and Aaron Hardie in the past 12 months.”
“They are exciting prospects to join the likes of Cameron Green, Nathan Ellis, and Josh Inglis in the white-ball setup,” Bailey concluded.
