Lowest Total in the History of Asia Cup Final: The Asia Cup 2023 final is currently underway at R. Premadasa Stadium, with Sri Lanka winning the toss and opting to bat first against India. India’s Bowlers Shine as Sri Lanka Gets Bowled Out for the Lowest Total in Asia Cup Final History.
IND vs SL: Lowest Total in the History of Asia Cup Final
However, the decision to bat first did not favor Sri Lanka, as they were all out for a mere 50 runs in just 15.2 overs. India now requires 51 runs at a run rate of approximately one run per over to secure their eighth Asia Cup title.
The entire Sri Lankan team was dismissed for 50 runs, marking the lowest score Sri Lanka has ever achieved against India in an ODI match. India had previously bowled out Sri Lanka for 73 runs in 22 overs earlier this year. Notably, this score against India is the lowest ever recorded by any team in ODIs. In a prior match against India in Mirpur in 2014, Bangladesh managed to score just 58 runs.
Facing Indian fast bowler Mohammad Siraj, the Sri Lankan team crumbled like a house of cards. Siraj claimed six wickets while conceding only 21 runs in seven overs. Remarkably, four of these wickets fell in a single over. This outstanding performance by ‘Miya Bhai’ is the best of his career. In addition to Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah secured one wicket, while Hardik Pandya took three wickets.
