IPL 2024 Trade Window Rules: The Indian Premier League (IPL) has a “Trade” process where teams can exchange players between each other before the final IPL players’ auction. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has listed various rules for player trading. The trading window will be open for a certain period of time, and teams can exchange players based on the IPL Trade rules.
The 17th edition of the IPL is scheduled to take place in Dubai on December 19, and the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction is expected to take place on December 9. BCCI has already announced the WPL 2024 released and retained players list for all participating teams. IPL teams need to submit the retained and released players list by November 26th.
IPL 2024 Trade Window Rules
BCCI confirmed that each team will have a purse value of INR 100 crores, which is an increase of 5 crores from the previous edition. With the IPL 2024 Auction marking the end of the 3-year window, speculations about potential player trades have hit an all-time high. BCCI is likely to organize the mega auction for the 2025 edition.
Here are the IPL 2024 Trade Window Rules:
- Once the IPL 2024 Trade Window opens, teams can start proposing trades to other franchises.
- IPL 2024 Trade can take place in two ways – a franchise can offer to sell a player or express an interest to acquire a player.
- Negotiations between the two teams should only be with regard to the player fee payable.
- Teams negotiate the terms of the trade, including the players involved, any additional considerations (such as cash considerations or future draft picks), and other relevant details. Once both teams agree on the terms, the trade is considered finalized.
- The other terms of the player contract like the period of the contract will remain the same.
- Though the teams decide the player’s trade, the IPL governing council needs to approve the proposed trade and ensure that it complies with the league’s rules and regulations.
- The council reviews the proposed trade and decides whether to approve or reject it based on various factors, including player availability, salary cap considerations, and fairness.
- If more than one franchise is interested in buying a particular player, then the selling franchise has the power to decide which offer to accept out of all those that have been made.
IPL 2024 Trade Players List
The IPL 2024 Auction is an event where teams can bid for players to strengthen their squads. Before the auction, teams can also trade players among themselves during the IPL 2024 Trade window. This allows teams to swap players who did not perform well or were too expensive in the previous IPL season and get players who can fit their needs and budget.
Teams will have to decide which players they want to retain and which players they want to release before the auction. They will also have to plan their bidding strategy based on the availability and demand of the players. Some players may attract a lot of attention from multiple teams and the highest bidder will get the player.
The IPL 2024 trading window is currently open and teams will announce their traded players once they get the official confirmation. We will update this page with the details of the player and the team involved in the trade as soon as they are announced.
