A new design for Karachi’s National Bank Stadium has been revealed, as the venue undergoes major renovations ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The renovation project is set to unfold in two stages: the first phase will be finished before the Champions Trophy, and the second phase will take place after the tournament concludes.
Key features of the redesign include the construction of a new building in front of the main stadium. This new facility will host VIP boxes, a gallery, media booths, and family boxes for players. Moreover, the two dressing rooms are likely to be moved to this new structure.
National Stadium Karachi’s renovations ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has recently given the green light for the renovation of key stadiums in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. The Pakistan Cricket Board has earmarked Rs12.80 billion for these infrastructure upgrades.
The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, and National Stadium in Karachi are set to host the ICC Champions Trophy from February 19 to March 9 next year.
Later this month, the National Stadium Karachi is also scheduled to host the second Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Due to ongoing construction, the Test match will be held without spectators. Construction work will pause during match hours and resume once the day’s play ends.
